The United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) is pleased to co-host this side event to the Open Consultations of the 1540 Committee’s Comprehensive Review process with Norway and Brazil. This part of an effort to promote dialogue on how best to mainstream the WPS agenda into non-proliferation regimes. The side event will be an opportunity to discuss practical methods for the integration of the WPS Agenda into the work of the 1540 Committee and its corresponding regime. The objective is to lay the groundwork for this topic to be raised in the Open Consultations by Member State delegations, UN entities, representatives of international, regional, and civil society organizations, as well as academia and industry. Opening Remarks will be provided by High Representative for Disarmament Affairs Ms. Izumi Nakamitsu. After a series of short briefings from key partners and practitioners, participants will be invited to ask questions and discuss. A light lunch will be provided.
