Space sustainability, solutions and success stories

The Outer Space Security Conference 2025 will feature a side event on space sustainability co-organized with the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA).

This fireside chat side event, open to conference participants, will focus on space sustainability and will share solutions and success stories. It will feature a conversation between:

  • Aarti Holla-Maini, UNOOSA Director
  • Robin Geiss, UNIDIR Director

The session will discuss key developments from the Vienna-based Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) on space sustainability, lunar coordination and planetary defence. It will also address space solutions for national challenges, spotlighting UNOOSA’s work in kickstarting space economies and sustainable development. In addition, participants will gain insight into how Geneva Missions can engage with COPUOS.
