The United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) is organizing a series of discussion roundtables on “Advancing the role of women in international security – Views from the Middle East.” The initiative aims at raising awareness of the importance of promoting the role of women in the fields of security, foreign policy, and disarmament, especially in senior and decision-making roles.
The objective of this first meeting is to identify concrete steps to expand capacity of women in the fields of security, foreign policy, and disarmament in the Middle East.
This first meeting is an invitation-only event and it will be followed by a public event later in September.
