Strengthening weapons and ammunition management

Preventing the illicit circulation of arms and ammunition

The Strengthening Weapons and Ammunition Management research pillar is one of the cornerstones of the Conventional Arms and Ammunition Programme. Our work in this research pillar provides research findings and tools that can be used to prevent diversion, uncontrolled proliferation, and destabilizing accumulations of conventional arms, including small arms and ammunition. This pillar also covers research into diversion dynamics and the role of international instruments in helping to prevent, detect, and address the diversion of conventional arms and ammunition throughout their life-cycle.
