Through its multi-method assessment approach in the Lake Chad Basin, Colombia, and Iraq, MEAC systematically studies individuals leaving armed conflict and examines the impact of programming intended to support them.
By employing different methodologies – large scale panel surveys with ex-armed-group associates and their unaffiliated peers – and qualitative, experimental, and participatory research to understand causal relationships and why they occur, the project produces actionable evidence that can be taken up by policymakers and field practitioners working on interventions to promote and sustain conflict exits.
Ultimately, the living learning cycle that the project promotes seeks to enhance the international community’s capacity to design empirically-based programmes.
