UNIDIR’s Managing Exits from Armed Conflict (MEAC) Project, 100cameras, War Child and UNICEF held a high-level closing reception and exhibit at UNHQ to mark the conclusion of the “Visions of Peace: Empowering Conflict-Affected Children and Youth Through Participatory Art and Action Research” photography exhibition at the UNHQ.
The reception brought together practitioners, impacted states and peacebuilding experts to celebrate the impactful photography created by conflict-affected children and youth from Iraq, Nigeria, and Colombia. The reception also featured the screening of a video co-created by the programme’s participants, providing a platform for these young voices to share their messages of peace directly with policymakers.
This event celebrated the exhibition, which was on display from 9 to 21 November 2024 at the United Nations Headquarters. The exhibition featured photographs and reflections produced through a participatory initiative led by MEAC, 100cameras, War Child, UNICEF and various local partners. These works provided a window into the challenges and resilience of children and youth navigating conflict, offering a creative outlet for them to share their experiences and contribute to peacebuilding discussions.
