In this publication, former US Ambassador Lewis Dunn explores the implications of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the ensuing war for nuclear disarmament, strategic arms control, and non-proliferation. It first sets out some background, it then discusses possible implications in each of the three areas and concludes with propositions on “what next for reducing global nuclear dangers”. The publication also presents the views on this issue from a variety of experts that participated in the 2022 edition of the Disarmament, Deterrence and Arms Control (DDAC) Dialogue convened by UNIDIR.
