Examining Technologies to Counter the Diversion of Components of Conventional Weapons: Findings from Project D-TECT

Hosted by the Flemish Peace Institute, UNIDIR and the Permanent Mission of Flanders to the United Nations, this side event will present States Parties and other stakeholders with expert perspectives and practical insights on the diversion of components used in conventional weapons, the potential relevance of technologies in strengthening efforts to counter their diversion to unauthorized end-users and end-uses and the challenges related to implementing such technologies.

This side-event is part of project D-TECT, set up in late 2022 by UNIDIR and the Flemish Peace Institute, to develop and test an approach to identify and assess the utility and feasibility of applying specific technologies to enhance the prevention and detection of diversion efforts.
