Looking Ahead: The Future of Gender Perspectives in the UNPoA

The government of Germany, the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) and the Small Arms Survey invite you to an interactive, in-person side event looking ahead at the future of gender mainstreaming in the UN PoA.

In past meetings, States made strides in advancing gender perspectives in the UN PoA by encouraging the full, equal and meaningful  participation of women in decision-making and implementation of all processes related to the PoA; taking into account the differing impacts of the illicit trade of SALW on women, men, boys and girls; encouraging gender mainstreaming in policies and programmes designed to combat the illicit trade in SALW; encouraging the collection of data disaggregated by gender.

The objectives of this event is to take stock of how efforts on gender mainstreaming under the PoA have informed action at national level and look ahead at what issues could be addressed by member states in the future.
