Umman Alizada

Umman Alizada is a Graduate Professional with UNIDIR’s Security and Technology Programme, contributing to the science, technology and innovation workstream. Her research interests are in emerging technologies and security, cybersecurity governance, and public private cooperation in the security sector.

She holds a joint master’s degree in Security, Intelligence and Strategic Studies awarded by the University of Glasgow, the University of Trento, and Charles University, and a bachelor of arts in International Studies from ADA University. Her master’s thesis examined comparative governance approaches to public private cooperation in cybersecurity.

Her professional experience spans the public and private sectors as well as the UN system. She previously worked at Azerbaijan’s Space Agency and the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, where she contributed to national digital ecosystem development and innovation infrastructure projects. More recently, she interned with the UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, focusing on the application of emerging technologies to peace and security efforts and innovation across operations. In addition, she has professional experience as a governance, risk and compliance consultant at KPMG.

Umman is fluent in English, Azerbaijani and Russian, and has working proficiency in Turkish.
