Sarah Ruth Opatowski
Associate Researcher Middle East WMD-Free Zone, Security and Technology, Weapons of Mass Destruction
Sarah Ruth Opatowski is an Associate Researcher at UNIDIR’s Weapons of Mass Destruction Programme, Security and Technology Programme, and the Middle East WMD-Free Zone Project. She joined UNIDIR in 2021 and has published numerous articles on nuclear risk reduction, biological and chemical weapons, Middle East issues and maritime law. Sarah Ruth has presented at multiple international and regional forums. Her current focus areas include nuclear risks and their intersection with new and emerging technologies.
She graduated cum laude from Leiden University with a master’s degree in international politics and holds a bachelor’s degree in politics with international relations from the University of York.
