Sara Chehab

Dr. Sara Chehab is a a non-resident fellow in the Gender and Disarmament programme at UNIDIR, and a Senior Research Fellow at the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) in Abu Dhabi, where she curates the “Women in Diplomacy” research programme. In addition, she trains diplomats on economic diplomacy, gender studies, and the women, peace and security (WPS) agenda.

Sara’s research interests revolve around gender and diplomacy and feminist foreign policy. She is the author of the annual Women in Diplomacy Index, a unique index that tracks the percentage share of women ambassadors globally. Her published works include various articles and opinion pieces that touch on women’s representation in foreign policy.

Prior to this role, Sara was Assistant Professor at Zayed University in Dubai, where she received a Teaching Excellence Award in 2014. She received her PhD in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Delaware in the US. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Political Science and International Relations from the same university, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from the Lebanese American University (LAU), in Lebanon.

Sara is fluent in English, French and Arabic.
