Marta Averof
Marta Averof is a Graduate Professional with UNIDIR’s Managing Exits from Armed Conflict Project and Integrated Approaches Programme, supporting youth engagement activities.
She holds a Master’s Degree in Conflict Resolution in Divided Societies from the Department of War Studies at King’s College London, where her dissertation focused on female ex-combatants’ nostalgia for war in Colombia and Sri Lanka. She also holds a First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Human, Social and Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge, where she conducted ethnographic research on gender relations within a Slavic-speaking Muslim minority in north-eastern Greece.
Prior to joining UNIDIR, Marta worked at Begum Organization for Women, implementing projects on girls’ education, youth engagement and media freedom in Afghanistan. She also interned at Civil Liberties Union for Europe, gaining hands-on experience in human rights advocacy and civil society coordination.
Marta is fluent in English, French, Italian and Greek.
