Igor Barreto is a Graduate Professional with UNIDIR’s Conventional Arms and Ammunition Programme, supporting the research pillar on Weapons and Ammunition Management. His interest lies at the intersection between arms control and (post-)conflict, with specific attention to arms diversion and criminal violence. 

He holds a Master’s Degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from Uppsala University, Sweden, and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. 

Previously, he worked as a Junior Analyst at the Uppsala Conflict Data Program, supporting the Latin America Project, and as a Political Analyst at the Embassy of Brazil in Stockholm. Igor has also interned at the Parliamentary Forum on Small Arms and Light Weapons in Stockholm, and at the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center. He speaks Portuguese and English, has intermediate proficiency in Swedish and Spanish, and basic command of French.
