Fabian Halfpap is an Associate Political Affairs Officer in the Office of the Directorate at UNIDIR.

Before joining UNIDIR, Fabian worked as a Consultant with the Food and Agriculture Organization to strengthen resource mobilization and strategic partnerships for humanitarian emergencies and resilience programmes globally. He previously held programme and project management roles operationalizing the humanitarian-development-peace nexus and integrating peacebuilding activities in Malteser International’s programme in South Sudan. His prior experience includes roles in humanitarian financing and the coordination of inter-agency anticipatory action protocols at the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, as well as programme and policy advice at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, supporting the German government in the implementation of its transitional development assistance strategy.

He holds a master’s degree in Conflict Studies from the London School of Economics and a joint master’s degree in Humanitarian Action from the University of Groningen and the University of Warsaw.

Fabian speaks English and German, and has intermediate knowledge of French, Spanish and Dutch.
