Elia Itin
Elia Itin is a Researcher at UNIDIR’s Conventional Arms and Ammunition Programme. Prior to joining UNIDIR, Elia worked as a Planning Officer in the Operations Command of the Swiss Armed Forces holding the rank of a colonel. He was engaged in planning, doctrine development and training of other staff officers.
He served the UN as a Military Expert on Mission on the Golan in the role of military observer, liaison officer and chief of operations in accordance with the 1974 Agreement on Disengagement between Israel and Syria. During his studies he focused on the efficiency of development aid in Afghanistan, carrying out field research in several provinces of the country.
Elia holds a Master of Arts in General History, Political Science and English Linguistics from the University of Zurich and speaks German, French and English.
