Alexandra Kuimova
Alexandra Kuimova is a Researcher with UNIDIR’s Conventional Arms and Ammunition Programme, where she contributes to the development and implementation of research and analysis on security and development issues.
Prior to joining UNIDIR, she worked with the Arms Transfers Programme at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), where she conducted research on the role of arms flows in fuelling armed conflict, the risks entailed by the emergence of new suppliers in the global arms trade, and on transparency in military expenditure, with particular focus on the developments in the Middle East and North Africa, Russia and Eastern Europe. She was also an intern with the Department of New Challenges and Threats at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, where she prepared a background report on terrorist movements in the MENA region.
Alexandra holds a specialist degree in African and Oriental studies (Arabic language) from the Kazan Federal University. She also completed internships at Université Abdelmalek Essaâdi in Morocco and Cairo University in Egypt.
