UNIDIR is supporting the Permanent Mission of Malta in a Side Event marking the 25 years of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda and exploring its relevance in today’s arms control and disarmament landscape.
This event will convene experts and practitioners to explore how to advance convergence between the WPS and disarmament agendas at multilateral, regional and national levels. It will provide a platform to share lessons, identify good practices, and generate actionable recommendations to ensure that disarmament and WPS frameworks can tackle threats posed by weapons and related technologies.
Key topics for discussion include:
- Trends and gaps in the integration of arms control/disarmament and the WPS agenda;
- Inclusive and intersectional approaches to arms control and disarmament;
- Practical strategies for aligning WPS and disarmament frameworks and actions;
