Exploratory research cell: Addressing glocal development and security challenges

Using conventional arms control to address development and security challenges

The Conventional Arms and Ammunition Programme’s Exploratory Research Cell examines how conventional arms control measures can help to address the international development and security challenges raised in the Secretary-General’s Our Common Agenda.

The cell’s research and activities seek to identify measures that can be taken at the local, cross-border, and subregional levels to tackle pressing development and security challenges. The cell explores the linkages between different forms of technological innovation and conventional arms control and production.

It also analyses new approaches to the setting of security priorities and security spending as part of an open and inclusive discussion on re-examining approaches to international security and sustainable development.
