Robert Wilson

Dr Robert (Bobby) Wilson is a Fellow with UNIDIR’s Security and Technology Programme. He is also Managing Partner at Navigating the Tech Wilderness Consulting, where he specializes in translating complex, emerging technologies into measurable real-world impact. His deep technical expertise spans critical sectors including AI policy, human-machine teaming, autonomous systems and healthcare. With a track record advising global leadership, Bobby consults on key areas such as architectural standardization and AI governance, ensuring initiatives are tightly aligned with core organizational strategy and objectives.

Bobby holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, as well as a BS and MS in Biomedical Engineering from Purdue University. He previously worked at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, leading complex initiatives in AI test and evaluation, immersive simulations and hybrid-cloud health solutions. Additionally, Bobby was selected by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration as a member of the Human Exploration Research Analog effort, where his team successfully spent 45 days simulating an isolated mission to Mars.
