Paula Soumaya Domit is an Associate Researcher, and former Graduate Professional, with UNIDIR’s Conventional Arms and Ammunition Programme. Her expertise focuses on the intersection between conflict resolution, peacebuilding and disarmament.

Prior to joining UNIDIR, Paula worked on research and policy design for the implementation of disarmament instruments and localized peacebuilding interventions. Her research interests center on how illicit flows of weapons interacts with conflict onset, peacebuilding and good governance.

Paula was named a Belfer Young Leader Fellow at Harvard University and conducted research at Harvard University, the University of Oxford and Northeastern University. Her work has included qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis from conflict-affected areas, including in Yemen, Colombia, Kenya and Uganda. Paula has published numerous articles on the monitoring of disarmament issues, spanning topics on conventional weapons, WMDs and emerging technology.

She holds a Masters in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and speaks Spanish, English and French.
