Katerina Fialova

Katerina Fialova is a Graduate Professional with UNIDIR’s Space Security Programme. Her research interest is focused on space governance and structural inclusivity.

She is currently finishing a Master of Laws in China studies with a focus on international relations and politics at the Yenching Academy of Peking University, where her thesis examines sustainability obligations of commercial satellite operators in China. Katerina also holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from New York University Abu Dhabi, where she specialized in astrophysics and co-authored the first Atlas of Mars in the Middle East.

Previously, she conducted research on space debris impacts with the Space Economy Evolution Lab in Italy and reported on commercial space incentives for New York State at Empire Space. She also served as Head of Technology for the China-Gulf Forum in the UAE, where she organized a panel on space cooperation between China and the Gulf. Katerina has presented her research at the International Astronautical Congress and Vasto Accretion Meeting 2025.

She speaks Czech and English and has a basic knowledge of Mandarin.
