Edward Madziwa
Edward is a Graduate Professional for the Security and Technology Programme.
He holds an LLM in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights from the Geneva Academy; an LLM in Constitutional and Human Rights Law and a Bachelor of Laws Honours Degree from Midlands State University, Zimbabwe. His experience and expertise include international humanitarian law, public international law and the law of weaponry and new technologies including artificial intelligence and cyber. Prior to joining UNIDIR, he worked with the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission, International Committee of the Red Cross and Diakonia International Humanitarian Law Centre. Edward is a co-recipient of the 2023 Henry Dunant Research Prize for his research, “Advancing honour and dignity in death for victims of armed conflicts: Exploring the challenges and opportunities of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Humanitarian Forensic Action under International Humanitarian Law.”
