Adina Sakura Darbyshire is a Research Fellow with UNIDIR’s Space Security Programme. She is an Australian-qualified lawyer from Japan with experience in practice areas including public international law and tech-focused mergers, acquisitions and venture capital. Adina has a passion for international space law and policy and their interplay with general international law, as well as other specialized regimes of public international law, with a particular interest in the international legal governance of non-kinetic counter-space capabilities.
Previously, Adina coordinated multi-jurisdictional pro bono legal research projects and educational programmes centred on public international law and international space law. She gained this experience at a global law firm and a non-profit organization dedicated to pro bono and public interest advocacy. In pursuit of her research interests, Adina is undertaking an Advanced Master of Laws in International and European Public Law at KU Leuven and completing a legal internship with the Space Court Foundation.
