Gender and diversity in the implementation of the Convention on Cluster Munitions: Progress Updates

What is the current state of gender and diversity mainstreaming in the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM)? This side event will take stock of progress achieved so far and discuss avenues for strengthening gender and diversity aspects in the implementation of the CCM.

The event will feature short presentations by experts and practitioners, as well as an interactive Q&A with the audience.
Potential questions for discussion include:
•    What are the main entry-points for gender and diversity mainstreaming in line with the CCM and the Lausanne Action Plan?
•    What can be done to strengthen synergies between the CCM and other gender-related frameworks, such as SDG5 and the Women, Peace and Security agenda?
•    What are the main lessons learned over the past 10 years regarding gender and diversity mainstreaming in the CCM?
•    How can CCM Gender Focal Points support States Parties in mainstreaming gender and diversity considerations in the CCM?

This event will also mark the launch of a new factsheet on “Gender & Diversity in the Convention on Cluster Munitions” developed by the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) and the International Gender Champions Disarmament Impact Group.
