Held on the margins of the ninth session of the Working Group for Strengthening the Convention, this multistakeholder dialogue will showcase concrete, applied use cases (from screening and risk-assessment platforms to institutional self-evaluation tools) that strengthen biosecurity, technical assessment and biorisk governance.
Emerging advances in science and technology are creating practical tools that support the object and purpose of the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC). As such, technical experts, and speakers from research organizations, and international bodies will present insights grounded in operational experience and current technological practice, illustrating how these tools can inform confidence-building and transparency in support of the BWC.
This event is organized as part of UNIDIR’s Science and Technology Watchtower project, and in collaboration with the BWC Implementation Support Unit and its joint series of Technical Briefs on emerging technologies and the Biological Weapons Convention.
