Matthew Paul Gonzalez

Matthew Paul Gonzalez is a Graduate Professional with UNIDIR’s Conventional Weapons Programme, supporting the Exploratory Research Cell. His interests centre on political and security dynamics in conflict and post-conflict settings.

Before joining UNIDIR, Matthew worked across the multilateral sector with a focus on the Western Balkans. In Brussels, he supported mediation efforts by the European Union Special Representative for the Belgrade–Pristina Dialogue. At the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, he worked in both the Secretariat and the Mission to Skopje, where he contributed to political monitoring and institutional resilience efforts.

Matthew holds an MA in International Relations from Central European University and a BA from Amsterdam University College. He also worked as an editor at the European Studies Review and speaks English, Spanish and French.
