Cyrille Kablan Nouoma

Major Cyrille Kablan Nouoma is a non-resident fellow with UNIDIR’s Weapons of Mass Destruction Programme. He is a military officer, medical laboratory scientist and forensic analyst serving with the Ghana Armed Forces. He works at the Molecular, Forensics and Research Laboratory of 37 Military Hospital, Ghana’s designated national disaster and emergency response health facility.

His laboratory expertise spans forensic biology and chemistry, molecular diagnostics, mass casualty identification and biological incident investigation. In 2023, Cyrille served with the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan as a laboratory specialist with the Ghanaian Battalion, supporting diagnostic services, laboratory surveillance and quality assurance in a resource-constrained operational environment.

His professional interests are in forensics, biological threat detection and the intersection of laboratory science, public health, biosecurity and defence. He is particularly interested in strengthening Africa’s capacity to anticipate, investigate and respond to biological threats.

Cyrille holds a BSc in Medical Laboratory Technology from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, and an MSc in Forensic Science from King’s College London, UK. He is fluent in English and has moderate proficiency in French.
