Theme 1: Images of peace

1. Learn

Mood in photography refers to the feeling an image gives you – like happiness, calm, tension or sadness.

a. How do you think the mood of an image changes if it is brighter or darker? What does light communicate to the viewer? Which type of image communicates a sense of peace to you – a lighter image or a darker image?

b. Think about natural light (like sunlight, golden hour, or shadows). How does the type of light in a photo help show emotion or meaning?

2. Create

Prompt: Capture an image that reminds you peace is possible

Peace can be quiet, gentle, or even hidden. Maybe it’s a hug between friends, sunlight on a wall, or someone helping another person. Look around—what reminds you that peace still exists?

Use light to help express that feeling.

  • A brighter photo might show warmth, hope, or safety.
  • A darker photo might show strength, calm or reflection.

Your photo is your voice—use it to show others where you see peace, even in small moments.

Don’t forget to share your short story with your photo. What’s happening, and why does it matter to you?
