Julia Wind-Falk is a Fellow at UNIDIR’s Weapons of Mass Destruction Programme through the Mercator Kolleg on International Affairs, jointly run by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation and Stiftung Mercator, in cooperation with the German Federal Foreign Office.

She studies the impact of the pandemic on the Biological Weapons Convention and analyses how rapid developments and investments in biotechnology are changing the international security landscape regarding dual-use goods and facilities. Her focus lies on integrating pandemic-related insights into existing agreements to support both the biopharmaceutical industry and research, as well as the security policy environment, thereby minimizing risks and strengthening security and ethical standards.

Julia is a biotechnology engineer and intellectual property expert by training and brings almost 30 years of work experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, intellectual property law firms and regulatory authorities for genetic engineering.
