Dr. Jente Althuis is a researcher and data scientist with the Managing Exits from Armed Conflict (MEAC) project at UNIDIR.

Her research focuses on the role of civilians and non-state actors in armed conflict; strategic communications in United Nations peace operations and political affairs; conflict resolution and peacebuilding; and disarmament and demobilization.

Dr. Althuis holds a PhD from the Department of War Studies at King’s College London. Her doctoral thesis examined the relationship between architecture, the built environment and conflict dynamics in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Prior to joining UNIDIR, Dr. Althuis worked at NATO, Chatham House and King’s College London. Her research has been published in leading academic journals and policy outlets.

She speaks Dutch, English, Spanish and French.
