How can we get to 100%? Sharing effective measures to comply with Arms Trade Treaty reporting obligations

While 81% of States Parties to the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) have submitted an initial report, the reporting rate for annual reports on arms exports and imports to the Secretariat stood at 62% in 2024. The issue of non-compliance with ATT reporting obligations has been noted during several ATT conference cycles and will be on the agenda again for the upcoming 11th Conference of States Parties.

But the ATT is not the only arms control and disarmament instrument that lacks full compliance with reporting requirements. There are a number of international and regional agreements that contain political commitments or legal obligations for States to provide information on their national control system and regularly report on international arms transfers.

This side event will provide an informal platform for sharing challenges, lessons learned and effective measures for compiling and submitting such reports under different multilateral arrangements. Panellists and participants will be encouraged to share practical advice to enable reporting to fulfil obligations under the ATT and achieve 100% compliance with ATT annual and initial reports.
