The United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) is pleased to invite you to this virtual launch.
The event will feature an expert panel to present From Data Generation to Policymaking: A Handbook to Profile Small Arms Ammunition in Armed Violence Settings and to discuss opportunities for its application to inform policy and practice to reduce armed violence.
The forthcoming Handbook provides step-by-step guidance for Member States to generate baseline data on illicit small arms ammunition proliferation and misuse and yield standardized results. The profiles constructed will allow users to progressively build an evidence base to inform policy and practice aimed at curbing the illicit flow of ammunition and reduce its impact. This Handbook also offers users with an opportunity to re-think armed violence by re-considering the role of ammunition – one that is central to lethal outcomes and often understudied.
