Building the Bridge: Arms Control to Reduce Violence, Prevent Conflict, and Advance Sustainable Devleopment

Roundtable dialogue on good practice and lessons-learned for integrating arms control and prevention as high-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 

WHAT: The United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), in cooperation with the Government of Switzerland and the Igarape Institute, is pleased to invite you to a roundtable dialogue ahead of the High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.

This event will focus on good practices and lessons learned for integrating sustainable development. Specifically, the roundtable will be facilitated with SDGs targets:

1) reducing armed violence (Goal 16.1); 
2) strengthening national institutions (Goal 16.A); and  
3) advancing gender equality and empowerment as part of the peace and security agenda (Goals 5.2, 5.5, and 5.C). nd Session of the Secretary-General's Advisory Board on Disarmament Matters. 

 

WHEN & WHERE:   Wednesday, 26 June from 13:15 - 14:45. Conference Room 11, United Nations Headquarters in New York.

 

PARTICIPANTS: UNIDIR encouraged the participation of representatives and experts in conflict prevention and prevention and the development of arms control.
