On the 23 and 24 of January 2020, UNIDIR hosted a one-and-a-half day workshop that brought together a diverse set of academic and policy experts to explore some of the future challenges and opportunities related to WMD compliance and enforcement. The workshop built a more nuanced understanding of some of the current and future challenges facing WMD-related agreements in a changing and identified further potential concrete tools and approaches to futureproof WMD-related agreements.
Specific areas of discussion highlighted in this report include: the changing global context; collaborative governance, including the role of International Organizations; measures to enforce WMD-related regimes; and benefits and challenges posed by advances in science and technology.
