Aamna Rafiq is a Researcher (Cyber) within the Security and Technology Programme at UNIDIR. She has expertise in securitization of cyberthreats at national, regional and international levels. She is also interested in the military applications of emerging technologies specially ICTs and their integration into warfare strategies and doctrines.

Prior to joining UNIDIR, Aamna worked at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad, Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services, Senate’s Standing Committee on Defence Production at the Parliament of Pakistan, and Arms Control & Disarmament Affairs Branch of Strategic Plans Division, Pakistan. She holds an MPhil degree in International Relations from Quaid-i-Azam University, Pakistan. She has authored publications on information security for civilian nuclear facilities, securitization of cyberthreats in Pakistan, and militarization of emerging technologies and their impact on strategic stability and future of arms control in South Asia.

Aamna speaks English, Urdu and Punjabi.
