Workshop (Vienna): Exploring New Areas of Research on Gender and Nuclear Policies

The United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) and the Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNP) are co-organising a workshop exploring new areas of research on gender and nuclear policies. The event will feature presentations from a diverse group of researchers who are pursuing innovative projects connecting gender issues with nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.

The previous NPT review cycle saw growing recognition of the importance of gender considerations regarding women’s meaningful and equitable participation in nuclear policymaking and diplomacy, but also the gendered impacts of ionizing radiation. As States Parties begin work towards the 2026 NPT Review Conference, we invite the expert and diplomatic communities to join this dialogue and jointly consider how to implement gendered and intersectional approaches in nuclear policymaking.
