Breakfast Briefing Gives Updates on Two Intergovenmental Cyber Processes
This breakfast meeting, the first in a series of short briefings on tech-related topics organized by UNIDIR’s Security and Technology Programme, will offer an update on the two intergovernmental cyber processes established by Member States through A/RES/73/27 and A/RES/73/266: an Open-Ended Working Group and a sixth UN Group of Governmental Experts. Both processes will hold informal consultations the first week of December in New York. From 2-4 December, multi-stakeholder consultations of the OEWG will convene representatives of the private sector and civil society, and on 5-6 December the GGE will hold informal consultative meetings will all Member States. By way of introduction to the December multi-stakeholder consultations, the briefing will also present the findings of a recent UNIDIR study that explores the role of the private sector in addressing the spread of malicious cyber tools and techniques.
