Advances in science and technology present risks but also opportunities to strengthen the Biological Weapons Convention. To explore such opportunities, this virtual side event to the BWC Review Conference discussed how different technologies could theoretically be applied to build greater confidence in compliance with the Biological Weapons Convention.
The event focused on three specific areas: “open source” technologies, new methods of genomic surveillance and bioforensics. With each technology, our expert panellists will provide an overview of these tools – and their limitations – before moving into an interactive Q&A session with the audience.
