The United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) is pleased to invite you to this report presentation.
The research report, outlines an arrangement for a verified freeze of fissile material production on the Korean Peninsula. An effectively verified freeze could be a first essential step in constraining the nuclear program of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The verification program in the suggested arrangement would not require a comprehensive declaration of all DPRK’s nuclear activities or access to its fissile materials in military use. It would, however, make it possible to verify the end of production and provide a path to expanding verification to all materials and activities and eventual elimination of nuclear weapons.
The report is available at https://unidir.org/freeze-and-verify.
