Ljupčo Gjorgjinski is a Fellow at UNIDIR and also a Senior Fellow for Science and Technology Diplomacy with the DiploFoundation. Since 2020, Ljupčo has facilitated negotiations on science and technology within the framework of the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC), both as a Friend to several Chairs and as Facilitator during the Ninth Review Conference. Ljupčo chaired the BWC Meeting of States Parties in 2018, where the landmark financial package he proposed was adopted by States Parties, ensuring the Convention’s financial stability.

Ljupčo also chaired the 2019 and 2020 Groups of Governmental Experts on Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems, established under the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons. The Guiding Principles were adopted during his chairmanship, as well as the groundwork for the development of the normative and operational framework supporting these principles.

He is the host of the Diplomacy, Light podcast and serves as a lecturer on the diplomatic and security aspects of frontier science and technology. He holds degrees from the University of Toronto, the University of Malta and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
