Joshua is an Associate Researcher in the Conventional Arms and Ammunition Programme (CAAP).

Before joining UNIDIR, Joshua worked in different Philippine government units. He most notably worked as a Communications Associate in Southern Philippines after a city-wide siege of a non-State armed group. As a Research Fellow at Fieldwork PH and later with WR Numero, he has led commissioned research for development and humanitarian organizations, government organs, and other groups.

Joshua holds a joint master’s degree in International Development from Palacký University Olomouc in the Czech Republic, Université Clermont Auvergne in France, and Università degli Studi di Pavia in Italy. He completed a bachelor’s degree in Development Studies from the University of the Philippines, during which he studied for a year at the University of Tokyo.

His research focuses on peace agreements and civic spaces in violent contexts, as well as conflict prevention through arms control. He speaks English and Tagalog.
