Statement by Iraq at the 4th session of the conference on the Establishment of a Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons and other WMD

The statement calls for urgent steps to address the attacks carried out by Israel against people in Gaza. It recognizes Israel’s absence from the conference as a reflection of political will and determination to establish an ME WMDFZ. The statement addresses the member of the Israeli government's statement regarding using nuclear weapons on Gaza, which underscores the urgent need for immediate measures to stop the attacks by Israel. Therefore, states must urgently respond to such threats and call for the inclusion of Israel in the NPT, complete nuclear disarmament and subjecting its facilities to IAEA safeguards, and join all relevant treaties. Iraq reaffirms the importance of the continuation of the conference and ongoing efforts in parallel with other tracks toward the establishment of an ME WMDFZ. It calls on the US to reconsider its absence from the conference and contribute to finding a solution to regional crises and security challenges.
