The statement noted the statements made by the Israeli Heritage Minister, suggesting the use of nuclear weapons in Gaza and emphasises the threat to regional and international peace and security and a violation of international law and non-proliferation regime. The statement highlights Yemen’s commitment to the conference and the establishment of an ME WMDFZ. The statement notes that the conference is not an alternative to the 1995 NPT Middle East decision but complementary and parallel to it. It calls for the participation of all states in the region to be sincere and not have any preconditions. The statement calls for the right of states of the region to pursue peaceful nuclear energy. It also expressed concern over Iran’s nuclear activities and urges Iran to renew its commitment to the IAEA safeguards.
