2005 NPT RevCon fails to agree on a consensus document due to disagreement over the ME WMDFZ issue among other issues

Row 62

Disagreements over the conference agenda and allocation of topics among the Main Committees and Subsidiary Bodies led to the failure of the 2005 RevCon to reach a consensus final document. With regards to the Middle East, one notable disagreement was over whether Subsidiary Body II should focus on regional issues, including the Middle East, or be limited to the 1995 Resolution on the Middle East. Another issue was the failure of Subsidiary Body II to produce a consensus report, with Egypt and Iran insisting that only consensus reports could be forwarded to the Drafting Committee of the conference.
