MEAC runs a multi-year study in Nigeria to examine exits from an array of armed groups – including Boko Haram and its factions (JAS/ISWAP) and community security actors (e.g., CJTF, Yan Gora, vigilantes).
Working with the local Mobukar enumerator team in Maiduguri, MEAC has conducted a series of large-scale surveys with community leaders, ex-combatants and former armed group associates, and non-affiliated community members in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.
The team has registered thousands of mass surrenders for follow up surveys and conducted a series of focus groups to better understand the perceptions and experiences of those impacted by the Boko Haram conflict.
